1/26/26 - Despite the court’s decision to halt opening of 320 Pearl Street, the City and Breaking Ground are moving to revive the low-barrier shelter attached to Peck Slip School.
We’re urging the Mayor to stop this Adams-era plan, respect the court ruling, and reconsider both the site and shelter model.
8/25/25 - The court rejected the City’s process for failing to consider safety, siting, and community impact in an extraordinarily sensitive location. Judge Engoron specifically cited “the City’s cavalier attitude toward fulfilling its obligation to demonstrate that it seriously considered the siting
criteria."

PeckSlip Advocates for School Safety is raising funds to immediately pursue legal recourse to push back against the City's arbitrary and negligent decision to open a low barrier Safe Haven shelter attached to Peck Slip School, an elementary school in Lower Manhattan.
